Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a known condition that affects joints, muscles, and soft tissue. The cause, however, is not easy to determine. Many believe it’s relative to dysfunctions in how the body receives and processes pain signals via our nervous system.

Who is more at risk?

Many people suffer chronic pain from Fibromyalgia, but it is most common and likely to be diagnosed in people middle-aged and older. Also, people that have other chronic conditions such as Arthritis or Lupus may be at higher risk as well. It’s also more likely to develop in women than in men.  Other risk factors include family history, repeat injury, obesity, and exposure to traumatic events including surgery.
